Project Approach

Our approach to every engagement includes the management of project time, cost, and quality. In addition, we focus on managing other aspects of the project environment, such as stakeholder communication & expectation management. Historically, we have used and refined this approach in many different projects and technical environments and have seen the value it brings.

 

We believe our collective experience and proven track record of successful engagements, project management methodologies, and a supporting infrastructure allows us the vision to detect potential problems and recommend corrective action in time to ensure that project scope, schedule, and budget are not affected.

Our approach to Project Management is designed to guide a project team from project initiation through implementation and into continuing maintenance. Our project management process is really a business process and along with supporting techniques and tools, it provides leadership, insight, and direction to the people within a project to maximize effectiveness.

XZact Technologies recognizes that project management is more than just completing forms and counting hours against completed tasks. Successful projects require solid definitions of individual roles and the development of a culture of mutual support and shared vision.

An important key to our approach is the recognition of the fundamental characteristics of projects and how they interrelate to create project success. Whether large or small, long or short in duration, complex or straightforward, all projects share these characteristics:

Objective: All projects are established to fulfill some need or requirement. Xzact’s approach focuses on the project’s objective.  We believe in realistic goals, which can and are measured.   These measurements provide valuable feedback to the project to act upon to attain the objective.  

Schedule: Generally, projects have a certain target; a point in time within which they must be accomplished. XZact closely monitors the timeline, management of corrective actions, scope and change controls.

Complexity: XZact focuses on realistic and pragmatic solutions that mitigate risks.

Size and nature of the task: Project goals can only be achieved within the established time, cost, and schedule constraints by developing an adequate, step-by-step plan of action; once prepared, this plan of action constitutes a project strategy. Our team closely monitors progress and evaluates the impact of changes against the baseline.

Resources: Every project will have use of certain resources (labor and management personnel, equipment, materials, facilities, finances, etc.) in order to carry out task requirements.

Organizational Structure: An individual must be given responsibility for the project. This “project manager” must fulfill the project objectives within the constraints specified by XZact management, our clients & the environment of the project. We support an approach that empowers the Project Manager and the organization through information dissemination and analysis to make the effective decisions.

Information and Control system: The information and control systems of an organization are generally structured to handle problems through typical functional lines of authority. The XZact team supports broad information sharing and communication through the use of essential project management tools and providing organizational access.

A very clear understanding of each of these attributes at the start of a project is critical as such understanding establishes the project’s success metrics and provides guidance that will be necessary in decision-making as issues and opportunities arise as the project progresses.
